LUCBAN MEMORIES





 

                                                         WEEK 9 ( OCTOBER 20-24)                                                   
   LUCBAN MEMORIES

My accomplishment:
Last week, I was able to retrieve my lesson plans, able to signed forms such as summary of executed lessons, activity sheets to my cooperating teacher. I was able also to get a sample form of SF 1 to 2 and sample card. To played with the teacher of the Lucban Elementary School a valley ball game and teach the grade two teachers a kalinga dance and participate during the intramural. 

My significant experience:
Last Wednesday it’s the start of the intramural, they divided the pupils by color, the grade two sincerity assigned as yellow team with the other grades, we practice yell for just one hour after that competition begun in the afternoon. Fortunately the yellow team won the yell and the basketball. On last Thursday, we the SLU intern have a played with Lucban teacher valley ball game unfortunately we lost the game but at least we enjoyed and shown sportsmanship. Last Friday boys scout and girls scout program, I and Charlene was assigned to have a game or activities to all grade two pupils. we played, message relay, longest line, the boat is sinking and others. It’s not all about the game but the friendship we gain from others and the sportsmanship we maintain even though we lost the game.

We also joined the night camping of the both girls scout and boys scout. We performed an ice breaker for them and saying our gratitude to them as they welcome us and teach us strategies or techniques to be use in teaching the pupils.

My insight:
The Lucban School is very accommodating school, can occupy a big number of pupils. There were good and bad experience but it a challenge for us a student teacher to adjust our selves and look for the positive side of that situation, learn from it. From what I observed there is a difference between the private and public schools but as a teacher, he/she must adopt the environment and do not compare the two schools because each school have their own uniqueness and different types of learners, different strategies to implemented but the goal is one to teach pupils with quality in order for the next generation for them to be came productive individuals and better society.

In playing games we must integrated values to it, example if the other lost the game. As a teacher we must teach them how to accept defeat by asking them what things need to improve through that they can determine the by their selves things need to improved, maintain the sportsmanship and being honest also.

My Problem:
       I have not yet started doing my field study 6 and renovate my instructional materials because accidentally I used permanent maker then I’m not able to erase the writings so I need to change again the cover.

My Solution:
           I must set aside a time for that and target a time to finished the filed study 6. I must use my free times and target one goal in each time able to accomplish something.

My Goal for next week:
        To have a demonstration in LES at least one or two lesson and past my filed study 6 on times. To compile the requirements and be evaluated.

IT’S WORTHY





Week # 8 (October 13-17)

IT’S WORTHY 

My Accomplishment:   
                   Last week, I was able to demonstrate five lessons,  I was able to focus my attention to those pupils whom I facilitated in the examination, I read aloud the test question, I clarify the instructions, I gives clues sometimes  to those pupils who are in needed help especially those developer learner. 

My Significant Experience
                         Last week, I helped my cooperating teacher in reviewing those pupils in their past lesson. After then my cooperative teacher divided those pupils into a two groups those fast learner with those developing pupils. The schedule of the fast learner was Wednesday and Friday morning whiles those developing pupils Thursday and Friday afternoon. My cooperating teacher divided two groups with the reason that, give more focus to the developer learners .

                      I was able to experience to facilitate the class while having their examination; I was task to guide the developer  pupils. I verify the instructions and I read aloud the test questions then tried to read with them. I give examples; I translated the questions in order for them to understand or gives clues. 

                   After the schedule of examination, i checked the test paper, I felt happy when I found out that those pupils whom I facilitated, most of them got high score. I felt satisfaction even though I’m tired of talking in front of those pupils, it’s worthy. 

My Insight: 
            The teacher must be patience to those pupils; the teacher must treat them equally. I learn from the seminar entitled” the heart of the teacher”. From that I learn lots of things such as the resourceful, competence, patience, enthusiastic, compassionate, responsible, gentle, humility, faithful, forgiving, dignified, the heart of the teacher  must contains that personalities. 

             I noticed that when I’m demonstrating a lesson then suddenly one or two pupils playing or talking each other, I felt irritated and it affect my mood in a whole day. I must learn to adjust, focus my attention to the positive things happening around me and learn to control my emotion so that my demo will not be affected. I learn also that I must treat them equally, even those people who are noisy during the discussion and I must give support for them or guide so that they will cop up with those fast learners. 

My Problems: Difficult to fill up the school form 1 to 5.

 Solution:  Ask the help of my cooperating teacher. 

My Goal for next week:
                I want to finished all the requirements in the public school such as 30 demonstration lesson, straight teaching, fill up the school form 1 to 5 and record their score in the activities. I want to leave with them a smile, symbolic that I learn many things from my cooperating teacher also the grade two sincerity pupils. I’ happy that I was given a chance to be with them even though in a short time and I want also that the grade two pupils will remember me even though I’m not with them.

Once a Teacher, forever a student
My Accomplishment:
 
I was able to have my straight teaching. Checked papers quizzes and seat works and able to record them also. I monitor them also while having their quizzes and I gave support for those 7 pupils having hard time in solving mathematics and reading.

My significant Experience

 Last week, I felt so tired but I just motivate myself that I need to finish this in order to accomplish all the requirements in public school. I think of my parents money, I don’t want to just waste them and enjoyed myself at the end I regret it.  I must do this to felt the satisfaction after all the sacrifices I done. I was motivated by my cooperative teacher even though she is old, she still teaches with quality. I want also that if ‘m the one who is teaching I want that pupils learn from me and at least there are ideas that remain from their minds.
I was able to experience the straight teaching even though I’m tired at least I know there were ideas or factual knowledge they get from me. I facilitate them also while having their summative test, I gave support for those pupils having hard time. I felt I heard 2 out of 7, trying to read at least they tried. They know now how to read I just guide them but those 5 pupils, I don’t know what to do, they were not listening attentively, not answering and not bother to try to read. I learn lots of things from them, I learn how to make jokes that were suited to them, we laugh together and from their experience.
I know that sometime I felt irritated but I kept in myself to think those positive in order to attract positive energy.

My insight:

I know that teacher must first think of the welfare of the pupils before her/his welfare. So means even though I’m tired, I must inspire myself to do quality teaching and focus my attention in my priorities to attain my goal.
One of the theories means that giving scaffolding or support to those pupils who were in need have great impact in their learning and giving opportunities to them.
The saying once a teacher forever a student means a teacher will continues learning inside the classroom or outside through the pupils participations, questions, answers and experience, even though the teacher is old he/she learn from his/her pupils. The teacher will continue reading books, updated the social media, society issues and adopt the technologies. She/ he can use it as medium of instruction when he/she teach.
I have seen this to my cooperative teacher even though she is old, she updates herself how to manipulate technologies and adjust in the situation of those pupils or the learning styles.

 Problem:

 Last week, my pupils become noisier and they were not paying attention attentively. They walk around the classroom, chatting with each other and playing. I’m mad at them but then I just control my emotions. I look at them but there was no effect, they look at me also. I shout just to stop them, that is effective for a meantime but again they repeated their attitudes as following days.
 
Solutions: 

One of my co-practicum tells me about the behavioral chart, I tried that strategies using smile face when they were listening and sad face if not. I explained to them, why this group got smiley faces but the other were not given. I noticed that they became quite and just raising their hand if they have the answer of my question.

My goal for next week:

I want that before their examination on, I’m done with my 30 demo teaching and including the straight teaching. I want also to do some renovation of the bulletin board before I leave grade 2 Sincerity. I want also that my pupils will remember me even though I’m just with them in a short time.

Teachers Day




                                                      WEEK #6 SEPT 29 T0 OCTOBER 3

Teachers Day!!!


My accomplishment:

last week, I was able to have my one demo teaching in mathematics and record their quizzes, seat work and assignments. I monitor most of the time grade two pupils because my cooperating teacher was sick last Tuesday until Wednesday.
We, practicums   Played volleyball with the teachers of Lucban unfortunately we lost the game but at least we enjoyed the Teachers day and at the same time the sport feast.

My significant experiences: 

last week I received a flowers, soap and candies or chocolates from my pupils. It symbolized that I’m important to them and they treasure me as their  teacher, ate or friend. From that incident, my relationship with my pupils became closer but there is still a limitation. I can help them if they are encountering problems in schools and if they don’t understand something, I’m willing to help them.

I noticed that most of the boys, they were not answering their sumative test. So I need to do more effort for them. During their recess and lunch, I extent helping them and explaining how to answered their quizzed, I let other pupils to help them also. From that situation, they answer their own seat work or quizzes even though   some of their answered were wrong but at least they do their works. I need to do more efforts in explaining the lesson and more strategies for them to pick up the ideas or lesson for that day.

I practice them also that every morning, break time, lunch time and dismissal they need to pray.

My insights:  
Teacher must extent time for those pupils needed his/her help or support. As one of the theories, pupils need scaffolding after rendering help for them, let them do by their selves. 

One of the strategies” the teacher do while the pupils just watch then let the pupils do with the teacher after that let the pupils do by their own, the teacher just watch.” From that strategy the teacher give support for the pupils having hard time and giving opportunities to build their skills or enhancing their talents.

The teacher also must build a relationship with his/her co-teacher for sharing their strategies to each other and peer teaching can also applicable. For the pupils to understand better and become globally competences.

Teachers also need to construct a relationship for his/her pupils. To implement non-threatening atmosphere and to develop interaction among them. But the teacher must set a limit for them and also know how his/her extend his/her help for them. To avoid issues and maintain the professional as well.

Problems: 

I didn’t have my straight teaching and I just finished 20 lessons. I need more lesson to attain the goal having 30 demo teaching.

Solution: 

I ask my cooperating teacher to give me more lesson and opportunity to have my straight teaching next week. She approves my request, thanks to her for understanding me and giving me a chance to finish the 30 demo teaching also the straight teaching. She extends her help to me suggesting things and correcting my objectives if it is suited to the topics. She give me ideas in order how to demonstrate my lessons.

Goal for next week:

 I need to teach more 10 lessons and having straight teaching in order to attain the goal. To fill up the differences form and able to finish all papers requirement.
